BELFAST – The dispatchers at the Waldo County Communications Center have formed a nonprofit organization to obtain items that will be donated to the community.
The purpose of the Waldo County Dispatchers Citizen Protection Fund is to raise money and accept cash donations to buy health and safety items that will be given to county residents.
The first major fundraising event will be a golf tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Searsport Pines golf course. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to buy Amber Alert child identification kits.
Those interested in participating in the event or sponsoring a hole may reach the communications center at 338-2040.
