The other day I received a lovely e-mail from Lindsay Beauregard relating what she and four friends are doing to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine.
Beauregard, Victoria Gower, John Wilson, Emily Gower and Jen Wilson, students of Hampden Academy and Reeds Brook Middle School in Hampden, are working to “grant a wish for a child in Maine who is battling a life-threatening illness,” Beauregard wrote.
“The average cost of a wish is $6,000.”
The wish quintet is working to raise their $6,000 with events and activities scheduled through the end of May, and they hope you will help them.
“To date,” Beauregard wrote, “we are one-third of the way to our goal.”
They have sold “wish stars,” held a dance, are planning a yard sale, and are currently collecting returnables at the Hampden Redemption Center on Western Avenue.
“Our most exciting fundraiser is coming up,” Beauregard wrote. Hampden Academy students will be “duct taping” three teachers to the wall in an event dubbed “Stuck UP!”
They are also planning a walk for May 29 and asking for $5 donations to participate.
Any way you can help would be appreciated.
If you can help with a donation, write a check payable to Make-A-Wish Foundation and mail it to Lindsay Beauregard, 7 Daisy Lane, Hampden 04444.
Beauregard reminds you your “donation is tax-deductible” and encourages you “to contact any one of us” if you have questions or want information.
To offer your support, call Lindsay, 862-5017; Jen, 862-2140; or Victoria, 862-4622.
Beauregard concluded by saying that the group is “excited about our endeavor, and thank you for your time and consideration.”
In a later column, I will have more information about Pirate Rec Day, which is May 17, for residents of SAD 4.
But right now, Rory Schmand wants readers to know that Saturday, May 3, is the deadline for you to make donations to a tag sale which will be part of this ongoing fundraiser that will help Piscataquis County girls attend a Next Level Basketball Team Camp at Colby College in Waterville.
