Two University of Maine students thought they had a bright idea Tuesday, but it ended up earning each of them a summons for reckless conduct.
Police were called to Androscoggin Hall by a resident who reported a fire in the microwave in the common area of the dormitory. She gave police a description of the two men she had seen leaving the area, which led them to Joshua Brown, 19, and Trevor Holmquist, 20, who both live on campus.
Brown and Holmquist allegedly removed the light bulbs from the fixtures in the room, put them in the microwave and turned it on, according to UM spokesman Joe Carr. This started a fire in the microwave, and the two were issued summons for their actions.
