Tigers’ Daley tosses 2-hitter to quiet Riots

EAST SULLIVAN – Tashia Daley tossed a two-hitter to lift Sumner to a 4-2 high school softball victory over previously unbeaten Orono on Friday.

Daley allowed two runs, none earned, while recording 14 strikeouts and walking three.

Julia Johnson hit a two-run home run in the fourth and a single for the Tigers. Lona Sargent hit a solo homer in the first, and Kayla Higgins doubled.

Chelsey Paul and Jody Keezer singled for Orono.

At Harrington, senior Kim Greene allowed just two hits, one walk and hit one batter while recording eight strikeouts to lead Narraguagus to the shutout win over Jonesport-Beals.

Jessica Tenan singled twice and knocked in a run for the Knights. Andrea Perry hit two singles and Nikki Endre added an RBI single.

Morgan MacLean and Breanna Beal singled for the Royalettes.

At Sabattus, Rachel Keefe hit a two-out, two-run home run in the seventh inning to give Medomak Valley of Waldoboro the win over Oak Hill.

Tessa Dodge homered in fourth inning for Medomak and Rachel Lee hit a one-out single in seventh and scored on Keefe’s homer.

Lauren Hall hit an RBI double for Oak Hill and Becca Roberts added a double and a run.

At Woodland, Macey Gillespie hit a double and a single and knocked in a run to help lift Calais over Woodland.

Tessa Clark, Toni Cole and Jen Foss each hit two singles and drove in a run for Calais.

Julia Nicholas hit an RBI double and a single to lead the Dragons. Cali Anthony added two singles.

At Blue Hill, sophomore Lydia Clapp allowed one run on two hits and four walks while striking out nine to lead George Stevens Academy past Searsport.

Jessica Keith tripled twice and drove in two runs for the Eagles. Lexi Wessel tripled and singled with two RBIs and Stevie Theoharidis added a triple and a single.

Abby Landmesser and Jana Frances-Mezger singled to lead Searsport.

Whitney Vinson singled in the third inning for Shead.

At Thomaston Thursday, Dean McCrillis hit a three-run double in the fifth inning to help lead Mountain Valley of Rumford to victory over Georges Valley.

Cody McPherson hit a solo home run in the fifth for Mountain Valley. Cam Kaubris singled twice and McCrillis added a single.

Brandon Staples homered to lead Georges Valley. Larry Platt and Larson Platt both singled twice.

At East Sullivan, Sean Kilpatrick hit an RBI single in the seventh inning the break a 9-9 tie and give Orono the win over Sumner.

Anthony Cyr hit a two-run double in the seventh to tie it up for Orono. Kirk Francis and Brandon LeVasseur each singled twice and knocked in a run.

Mickey Manning paced Sumner with four singles and two RBIs. Joe Simmons added two singles and two RBIs.

At Blue Hill, Nate Hines hit a two-run home run in the third inning to help lift George Stevens Academy over Searsport.

Lucas Marks doubled and singled and drove in two runs for the Eagles. Josh Astbury added three singles and two RBIs and Ebb Walton hit an RBI single.

Casey Ashey and Matt Bagley each had two singles and an RBI to pace Searsport. Evan Kingsbury hit two singles and Nate Adams added an RBI double.

At Skowhegan, Marcus Morin drove in Les Marcue in the bottom of the seventh inning to break the 3-3 tie and lead Skowhegan to victory over Hampden Academy.

Morin added a two-run single in the third inning for Skowhegan. Marcue had two singles and two runs scored and Jonathan Wheaton hit a double and two singles.

Brennan Perry led Hampden with a two-run single in the fifth inning. Cody Miller and Shawn Smith each hit a double and a single. Nolan Turner singled twice.
