LEWISTON – Casey McCormack scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning on an overthrow during an attempted double play as Bates won 6-5 and salvaged a split of Monday’s doubleheader against Fisher College.

Fisher won the opener 7-3.

Tom Beaton had two hits and three RBIs in the second game for the Bocats, and Brian Buckley had a two-run double.

Kenny Rivera and Kevin Ryan had three hits each for Fisher. Rivera homered.

In the opener, Robert Mondello pitched six innings of five-hit shutout baseball and Eddy Delcarmen hit a two-run homer and an RBI single.

Beaton had two hits and an RBI for the Bobcats, whose 14 wins are their most since 1992.
