WATERBORO – Investigators say a medical problem may explain why a motorist blacked out on Route 202 in Waterboro, causing her car to plow into the front of a Gorham Savings Bank branch.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle, driven by Glena Waterhouse, 49, of Waterboro, crossed Route 5, struck a utility pole and crossed a lawn and embankment before hitting the bank.

Waterhouse was not injured in the crash, which occurred at around 6 p.m. Sunday.

Police said the bank was closed Monday.
