Morin powers Old Town Leland, Cossal add RBI doubles in win over Lynx

LINCOLN – Hannah Morin allowed only four hits and didn’t walk a batter to lead the Old Town Coyotes to a 3-0 high school softball victory over the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx Tuesday.

Morin also recorded two singles while Whitney Leland and Amy Cossal each had an RBI double for the Coyotes.

Brooke Hanscom had a pair of singles for Mattanawcook Academy.

Ellsworth 4, Hermon 2

At Ellsworth, Jen Richter had an RBI double and Ashley Smith three singles and an RBI as Ellsworth knocked off previously unbeaten Hermon.

Sabrina Jellison singled twice and scored two runs for the Eagles.

Debbie Colpitts knocked an RBI triple while Lily Berry contributed a sacrifice fly for Hermon.

John Bapst 11, Foxcroft Acad. 2

At Foxcroft, Devan Richard went seven innings allowing two runs on four hits to propel John Bapst by Foxcroft Academy.

Laura Jordan hit an RBI single for the undefeated Crusaders.

Kelsey Boss tallied a double and a single with an RBI while Sabrina Sharrow had a triple for Foxcroft Academy.

At Pittsfield, Sam Morse’s RBI double in Erskine Academy’s three-run third inning helped lift the Eagles of South China to victory.

Morse was also the winning pitcher as she scattered five hits while striking out seven and not walking a batter.

Brooke Libby and Tiffany McLaggan each singled twice for Maine Central Institute.

Valley 17, Greenville 5

At Greenville, Hannah Belanger had three singles and three RBIs and Jessica Brown had two singles and also knocked in three runs as Valley of Bingham beat Greenville.

Torie Costello tripled and singled for the winners and Katelyn Atwood went the distance for the win.

Emma Wilson tripled, doubles and singled for Greenville and knocked in a run and Lauren Fling doubled and singled.

At Waldoboro, Delaney Evans scored on a passed ball to cap a two-run eighth inning and give the Black Bears the win.

The Panthers scored with no outs in the bottom half of the inning, but Sarah Maxwell then struck out the next three batters to end the game.

At Ellsworth, Pat Kelley pitched a complete-game no hitter allowing one walk with nine strikeouts as Ellsworth shut out Hermon.

Garrett Kaspala hit two singles and drove in two runs for Ellsworth. Brad Folmer had two singles and an RBI while Kelley hit a two-run double for the undefeated Eagles.

Ben Grant doubled twice, singled and knocked in a run for Winslow.

At Greenville, Tim Post hit two doubles, two singles and drove in three runs to spark Greenville by Valley of Bingham.

T.J. St. Louis posted two singles, a double and an RBI while Joe Gilbert added a double and a single for the Lakers.

John Hunnewell paced Valley with two singles, a double and two RBIs.

At Lincoln, Jake Smith belted a pair of homers and a double and drove in four runs and Tyson Tash had a three-run homer, a double and a single as Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln upended Old Town.

Lance Bernier doubled and singled for the winners and Tyler White singled twice. Each had an RBI. Peter Coggins and Josh Murchison combined on a six-hitter.

Lance Getchell doubled and singled for Old Town and had an RBI and Jason Smith doubled.

At Hampden, Shawn Smith tossed seven innings allowing one run on seven hits with six strikeouts to lead Hampden by Nokomis.

Josh Tardiff hit two singles and a double while Nolan Turner had a pair of singles for Hampden.

John Watson hit an RBI single for Nokomis.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Andrew Casey doubled, singled twice and had a sacrifice fly, driving in two runs and scoring the other, to back the seven-hit pitching of Aaron Healey.

Healey struck out four and walked two in his route-going performance.

Jon Gagnon had three singles for the winners.

Jamie Nason, Ian Champeon and Wade Witham had two singles each for Foxcroft Academy. Champeon pitched a complete-game nine-hitter.
