KEENE, N.H. – Anthony D’Alfonso’s three-run home run capped a four-run, eighth-inning rally Wednesday that carried the University of Southern Maine to a 6-5 victory over Rhode Island College in the first round of the Little East Conference tournament.

The third-seeded Huskies won their seventh straight and face No. 2 Eastern Connecticut today at 3 p.m.

USM’s big inning began when Ryan Pike hit a solo homer. One out later, Andrew Stacy singled and Collin Henry walked to set up D’Alfonso’s blast. Tim Therrian earned the win with three innings of one-run relief.

D’Alfonso added a double for USM, while B.J. Doyon and Tim Schabowski had three singles each for the Anchormen.
