Colpitts lifts Hawks by Old Town

OLD TOWN – Debbie Colpitts pitched a four-hitter to lead the Hermon Hawks to a 5-1 high school softball victory Thursday over the Old Town Coyotes.

Colpitts allowed only four hits, struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter.

Colpitts also singled twice while Jasmine Veilleux had two singles and an RBI for the Hawks.

Morgin Cossar knocked an RBI single and Ashley Goodwin two singles for Old Town.

At Milo, Erica Lyford pitched a five-inning two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and doubled in two runs to lead the Patriots past Piscataquis of Guilford.

Brittany Genthner knocked a two-run triple for Penquis.

Annie Agnew had an RBI single and Cindy Currier a single for the Pirates’ only hits.

At Corinth, Central’s Kara Voisine pitched a mercy rule-shortened two-hitter while notching nine strikeouts against just one walk.

Joceyln Portman had a triple, single and three RBIs for the Red Devils. Hilary Haney had a triple, single and one RBI. Kristie Collins hit a solo homer in the first.

MacKenzie Curtis had an RBI double for the Mount Desert Island Trojans.

At Ellsworth, Sabrina Jellision’s RBI triple lifted Ellsworth past Foxcroft Academy.

At Ellsworth, Dillon Wilbur hit three singles and drove in two runs to help lead Ellsworth past Foxcroft Academy.

Adam Kaspala had two singles and two RBIs for the Eagles. Josh Palmacci added a two-run triple in the fourth.

Josh Conroy singled twice for the Ponies, and Josh Boone doubled and scored a run.

At Corinth, Calvin Tweedie capped a five-run fifth inning with a solo homer that broke a 7-7 tie and he also had a double and three RBIs as Mount Desert Island overcame a 7-0 deficit.

Danny Dunn had four singles and four RBIs, Brett Mitchell knocked in three runs with a two-run triple and a sacrifice fly and Josh Delaittre had two singles and an RBI for the winners.

Jake Speed doubled and singled and drove in three runs for Central and Josh Collins doubled and singled and had two RBIs. Ben Merrill added a two-run single.

Kyle McGeechan had a double, three runs scored and three stolen bases for the Golden Bucks. Cam Wadleigh added two singles and an RBI.

Nick Smith paced the Crusaders with a solo home run, double and single, and he knocked in all of his team’s four runs.
