I’m not usually one to brag (a lot), but this is a special occasion. For the first time in the history of “American Idol” and Reality Bites, my final three picks have made it to the end. Jason Castro was voted out of the “Idol” running this week, leaving David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado to battle it out.
Next Tuesday, they will each perform during the hour-long show, which will be followed by Wednesday’s elimination of another finalist. I’m holding out for Cook and Mercado. She had a bad week, but I’m hoping she will hang in there until the end. We’ll see if my streak continues.
In another reality singing competition, “Nashville Star” is coming back. I had a few inquiries wondering what happened to the USA Network’s country competition, so here’s the scoop.
There’s a new host in town, but it’s not a huge surprise. Billy Ray Cyrus no longer has an “Achy Breaky Heart” and has been on a hot streak lately mostly thanks to his daughter’s success.
Cyrus will debut as host when season six premieres at 9:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, on NBC. If you can’t wait, visit www.NBC.com for a sneak peak at the audition process.
Let’s hope that “Nashville Star” proves to be better than this season of “Idol,” because it can’t get much worse.
Speaking of shows that will continue, “Project Runway” lives on but is moving from Bravo to Lifetime for its sixth season, according to Reality TV World’s Web site.
And now to empty out the inbox.
I recently received an e-mail from WE TV looking for people willing to be profiled on the network’s new docu-series “The Locator.”
The series follows Troy Dunn, a professional people connector, as he attempts to reunite and bring closure to people seeking lost or estranged family and friends from their past.
WE TV is looking for people who were adopted and want to find their birth mother; someone who was separated from their family at a young age; or others who might be looking for a missing link to their past.
To submit an application, visit www.wetv.com/casting or www.TroyTheLocator.com and share your story by June 15.
In each episode, Troy will select one case in which he will attempt to locate the individual with the help of private investigators, law enforcement, genealogists, and even psychics.
For more casting calls, visit the Reality Bites blog at www.bangordailynews.net, and while you’re there read about how you could win $20,000 by making a three-minute YouTube video.
