Lee helps Madawaska double up Crusaders

VAN BUREN – Jon Lee hit two singles and a double to help push Madawaska past Van Buren 6-3 in high school baseball action Friday.

Chad Bechard hit a solo home run in the fifth inning for Madawaska and Nathan Welch added two singles.

Alex Martin hit an RBI double and recorded eight strikeouts for Van Buren. Ben Doucette and Patrick Vaillancourt each hit an RBI single.

At St. Agatha, Curtis Picard allowed two hits and a walk in six innings while notching 11 strikeouts and delivering a double, single, and two RBIs against the Greater Houlton Christian Academy Eagles.

Alex Michaud had two singles, a double and three RBIs for the Wisdom Pioneers. Curtis Collin had a double, single and one RBI.

Jason Gray and Chad Duff each had a single for the Eagles.

At Fort Fairfield, Josh Booth had a triple, a single and two RBIs to help lead a 16-hit attack by the host Tigers.

Ian Towle had a double, single, and three RBIs for the Tigers. Austin Dufour had a double, single and two RBIs. Jeremy Dillon, Josh Churchill, and Bo Everett each hit two singles.

Seth Viola and Ethan Doody each singled for the Beavers.

At Millinocket, senior righty Jared Manzo tossed a three-hitter, striking out 11 and not walking anybody, as Stearns topped Houlton.

Garren Manzo and Cory Barnett drove in two runs apiece as Manzo doubled and singled and Barnett singled twice. Justin Pelkey chipped in with a pair of singles and an RBI.

Levi Prosser, Parker Brown and Josh Harvey singled for Houlton.

At East Millinocket, Andy Kay allowed no runs on four hits and one walk while striking out nine to lead Katahdin of Stacyville past Schenck.

Josh Guiggey singled three times for Cougars. Kay hit two doubles and Cody Cunningham added two singles.

Trevor Violette doubled and singled to lead Schenck and Tyrell Davis hit a double.

At Pittsfield, Ethan West hit a grand slam in the third inning to help lead Maine Central Institute past Waterville for its first win.

Faxon McLaughlin had a double and two singles with an RBI for MCI. Andy Shorey added two singles.

Josh Gaudette paced Waterville with a double and a single and two RBIs. Eli Fitzgerald and Tim Locke each had a double and two singles.

At Rockland, Scott Siviski and Kevin Martin had three singles each to lead the Black Raiders to victory.

Adam LeClair added two doubles for Winslow, while Chris Brawn singled twice and Ben Grant doubled.

Ryan Meklin doubled twice for Rockland, while Tyler Patterson doubled and singled, Dylan Meklin and Andy Murphy each singled twice and Lucas Morrill tripled.

At Danforth, Julia Knights struck out 12 and allowed six hits over five innings and had a double and three runs batted in as Woodland triumphed.

Julia Nichols had a two-run homer and Shelby Bassett had a run-scoring triple for Woodland.

Nikki Tuck and Liz Gilman had run-scoring singles for East Grand.

At Fort Fairfield, Dakota Koch had two doubles, a single, and three stolen bases to lead the Washburn Beavers.

Rachel Palmer hit an inside-the-park, two-run homer in the fifth and doubled for the Beavers.

Kelly Lynch had two singles and three stolen bases while Sarah Hebert added two singles and two steals for the Tigers.

At St. Agatha, Elsie Berce and Crystal McDonald drove in four runs apiece as Wisdom upended Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

Berce had a triple and three singles and McDonald had a pair of singles. Chelsea Paradis knocked in three runs with a double and three singles.

Myra Barnes had a double and two RBIs for GHCA and Hannah Hiscoe had a single and an RBI.

At Millinocket, Becca Leavitt hit two doubles and a single and drove in three runs to help Stearns to victory over Houlton.

Mikaela Rosebush had two singles and a double for the Minutemen and Kristen Albert added a double and a single with an RBI.

Courtney Putnam hit an rBI single for Houlton and Nikki Eastman singled.

At East Millinocket, Kayla Stevens hit two singles and scored four runs to give Katahdin of Stacyville the win over Schenck.

Melissa Duffy also singled twice for the Cougars.

Emily Finson hit an RBI double to pace Schenck. Tricia Hobbs and Ashley Deloge singled.

At Van Buren, Ashley Cyr had a double, four singles, an RBI and scored four runs to lead the Owls past the Crusaders.

Sara Schlicher added a double, two singles, an RBI and four runs scored, while winning pitcher Callie Pelletier doubled, singled, had an RBI and scored three runs and Steph Nadeau hit three singles.

Macie Laplante tripled and -doubled with two RBIs for Van Buren, while Kristen Vaillancourt singled twice with an RBI.

At Pittsfield, Maine Central Institute jumped to an early lead by scoring three runs in the first inning as the Huskies defeated Waterville 5-1.

Kristen Sousa and Brooke Libby hit RBI singles for MCI. Tiffany McLaggan and Whitney Houston added RBIs.

Kelsey Gagnon scored on a Paige Gardiner single in the third inning for Waterville.
