Lions’ Ward rounds bases with winning HR

BELFAST – Cote Ward hit a two-run game-ending home run with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Belfast an 8-6 baseball win over Oak Hill of Sabattus Friday.

Jake Arthers hit two doubles and a home run for Belfast. Bryce Ridley had a double and two singles and Matt Steinart added three singles. Dale Dutton hit two singles.

Brandon Plourde homered and singled to pace Oak Hill. Joey Morneault hit a double and a single.

At Eastport, Justin Lewey pitched a complete-game four-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks as the host Shead Tigers earned the victory.

Lewey also hit a two-run single to highlight a five-run second-inning rally by Shead, after A.J. Seeley had singled home two runs in a three-run first-inning uprising.

Kris Sullivan added three singles and an RBI for Shead.

Jacob Stevens singled twice for Machias, while Ben Getchell doubled and Joe Whitney singled home a run.

At East Machias, Josh Astbury and Caleb Hale combined on a five-inning one-hitter and George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill belted three homers to beat Washington Academy.

Lucas Marks and Nate Hines hit two-run homers for the Eagles and Jesse Ingraham hit a solo shot.

Mike Lenfestey’s double was the Raiders’ only hit.

At Rockport, Ryan Martin tossed six innings of one-hit, one-run ball, striking out three and walking two, and Mike Rankin had a double and two singles as Maranacook of Readfield beat Camden Hills.

Corey Palmer had two singles for Maranacook and Brian Bean drove in two runs with a triple and a fielder’s choice.

Gabe Blodgett had two singles for Camden Hills.

At Thomaston, Willie Brown scattered four hits over six innings and added two singles to lead the Livermore Falls Andies by Georges Valley.

Jake Marceau added two RBI doubles for the Andies, while Josh Tainter had three RBIs and Kevin Gats singled twice.

Larry Platt had a double and single for the Buccaneers.

At Rockland, Scott Siviski and Kevin Martin had three singles each to lead the Black Raiders to victory.

Adam LeClair added two doubles for Winslow, while Chris Brawn singled twice and Ben Grant doubled.

Ryan Meklin doubled twice for Rockland, while Tyler Patterson doubled and singled, Dylan Meklin and Andy Murphy each singled twice and Lucas Morrill tripled.

At Hampden, Brennan Perry’s bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth scored Josh Tardiff with the winning run for the Broncos.

Perry and Jacob Moore also combined to pitch a one-hitter, with Perry striking out 11 and walking six over the first six innings.

Tardiff had two singles and an RBI for Hampden, while Patrick Stephens also singled.

Cory LaRue’s RBI double in the third inning was Edward Little’s lone hit.

At Danforth, Julia Knights struck out 12 and allowed six hits over five innings and had a double and three runs batted in as Woodland triumphed.

Julia Nichols had a two-run homer and Shelby Bassett had an RBI triple for Woodland.

Nikki Tuck and Liz Gilman had RBI singles for East Grand.

At Waldoboro, Rachel Lee singled and later scored on a Kayla Santheson single in the third inning to lead Medomak past Erskine Academy of South China.

Medomak’s Kayla Vannah allowed four hits and one walk while striking out five for the shutout win.

Santheson added a first-inning triple. Melissa Ambridge and Tessa Dodge singled.

Ashley Peaslee, Ericka Malley, Samantha Morse and Sarah Stuart singled for Erskine.

Morse allowed one run on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

At Thomaston, sophomore Danielle Frye pitched her third no-hitter of the year allowing four walks and striking out 11 to hand Georges Valley the wni over Livermore Falls.

Right-handed Frye had three no-hitters and two one-hitters in 28 innings.

Ashley Geel hit two home runs and a single to drive in seven runs for the Buccaneers. Erin Judkins homered and singled with two RBIs and Brittany Worcester added a double and two singles. Desiree Smith hit three singles and Aley Watts doubled and singled with two RBIs.

At East Machias, winning pitcher Lydia Clapp hit a two-run home run and a two-run triple to lead George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill past Washington Academy.

Alida Peake added a double, single and two RBIs for GSA.

Andi Flanney doubled and singled for the Raiders, while Irene Lewey singled twice and Carilla Fritz tripled.

At Eastport, Whitney Dennison had three singles, two doubles, and six RBIs while Julie Corbett scattered eight hits, striking out 11, as the visiting Machias Bulldogs beat Shead.

Samantha Moody had a triple, double, single and three RBIs for Machias. Amber Scoville had a double and two singles for the winners. Alyssa Elliot doubled and singled and Courtney Dahl chipped in two singles and an RBI.

Cassie Barnes had two doubles and a single for Shead. Cassandra Stanhope had a double and an RBI and Whitney Vincent also doubled.
