LEWISTON – Police are investigating three suspicious fires that were reported within a period of 36 minutes.

The fires took place Saturday afternoon. The first was in a pile of trash in an alley on Canal Street, the second in a car parked in the Oak Street parking garage and the third in an abandoned couch near the intersections of Birch and Pierce streets.

Fire officials say that while the fires were suspicious, they can’t confirm that the three were connected.
