SANGERVILLE – It is believed a 4-year-old child started a fire late Sunday afternoon that damaged a Douty Hill Road home, according to Fire Chief Chuck Bean.

Bean said the State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the origin of the fire that began about 5:40 p.m. in an upstairs bedroom at the home of Scott Green. Green’s two grandchildren and an unidentified woman were with him at the time of the fire. No one was injured, he said.

The home was insured, according to Bean.

Guilford firefighters assisted Sangerville firefighters at the scene while Dexter firefighters remained on standby at the Sangerville fire station and Dover-Foxcroft firefighters remained on standby at their station.
