Brewer Kiwanis Club secretary Herb Hopkins stopped by last week to report the club will hold its second annual So You Think You Have Talent show at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Brewer High School.

The contest is open to everyone. Prizes are $500 for the three categories: up to age 10, 11-18, and 19 and older, and there is a grand prize of $1,000.

The entry fee is $5. Contestants must provide their own music, instruments or whatever is needed to audition.

Preregistration is required and applications will not be available at the door. Auditions are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Brewer High School.

Applications are available at the following locations: all Gold Star Cleaners; in Brewer at Awards Signage and Trophies, the high school, the library and the auditorium; in Bangor at Camden National Bank, Bangor Cleaners, Henry’s Formal Wear and Realty of Maine; or by calling club president Jessica Tilton at 942-0913 or 356-9163.

Mailed applications, including the $5 entry fee, must be received no later than Tuesday, May 27, and may be obtained by writing Brewer Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 538, Brewer 04412.

After the audition a Kiwanis member will contact applicants and the chosen contestants will receive further instructions. The dress rehearsal is 7 p.m. Friday, June. 6, at Brewer High School.

Tickets to attend the show are $10 for adults, $5 for students, $15 for VIP tickets for floor seating up front.

Tickets will be available at the door, and all proceeds benefit local children’s charities and programs of Brewer Kiwanis.

Jennifer Brooks of Penquis reports preregistration is required for the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program’s two free women’s health screening days.

The first screening is Wednesday, May 14, in Greenville with Northwoods Healthcare and Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital; the second is with Katahdin Valley Health Center and Millinocket Regional Hospital, Thursday, May 15, in Millinocket and Patten.

The free program is for women ages 40-64 who have little or limited health insurance and meet certain income guidelines.
