Ashland teams triumph Hornet baseball, softball clubs remain undefeated

ASHLAND – Tyler Cote and Tony Baker combined on a two-hitter as undefeated Ashland cruised past Van Buren 14-0 in schoolboy baseball Tuesday.

Carl Nemer and Cote each hit a triple and a single for Ashland. Lucas Hafford hit a three-run triple and Jeremy Tarr hit a solo home run for the Hornets.

Ben Doucette had a double for Van Buren.

At Dyer Brook, Dakota Sleeper struck out 13 batters while allowing only one run on two hits to lead Southern Aroostook by Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Josh Branscombe hit two singles and Sleeper drove in a pair of runs. Darin Flewelling added an RBI single.

Mitch Folsom and Logan McCarthy each singled for Central Aroostook.

At Madawaska, Tom Albert hit two doubles, a single and drove in three runs as Limestone Community School/ Maine School of Science and Mathematics rolled.

Chris Parent doubled and singled with three RBIs for the Eagles while Sam Davidson tallied two singles and an RBI.

Jon Lee had two singles and Chad Bouchard doubled for Madawaska.

At Ashland, Whitney Flint earned the victory with a four-hitter and aided her own cause with a three-run home run and two-run single.

Flint struck out 13 and walked four. Crystal Cook chipped in with a double, single and RBI and Rylee Graham had a double and three RBIs.

Kristel Deschaines hit a solo homer for Van Buren and Kristen Vaillancourt doubled and drove in two runs.

At Madawaska, Dawn McDonald cranked three doubles and drove in three runs and Stacey Bernier added a solo home run to lead the Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Victoria St. Pierre chipped in with a triple, two singles and two RBIs and Bernier also singled.

Sara Schlicher and Kaylie Cyr both singled twice for the Owls with Schlicher driving in a run. Kallie Pelletier added a triple.

At Houlton, Andrea Chasse scattered three singles over five innings, striking out eight and walking seven, as Wisdom topped Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

Sadi Dubois had two singles and two runs batted in for the winners and Elsie Berce hit an inside-the-park homer.

Kasi Parker, Jamie Mellia and Hannah Hiscoe singled for GHCA.

Amanda Libbey had four singles and two RBIs while Hillary Jackson had a double with three RBIs for the Beavers.

Ashley Estabrook paced Central Aroostook with two singles, a triple and five RBIs while Brittni Mosher added a single and four RBIs.
