Lynx top Hawks for sixth Bernier, Coggins, Tash lead Mattanawcook offense

HERMON – Lance Bernier drove in three runs with a pair of singles and Peter Coggins had a two-run triple as Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln topped Hermon 10-5 in baseball action Tuesday.

Tyson Tash’s run-scoring double and RBI singles by Ivan Voisine and Josh Murchison in the three-run first inning helped stake MA to a 9-1 lead.

Derek Helms had a solo homer, a single and two RBIs for Hermon. Brian Saucier doubled and singled and Eric Ferland had a two-run double.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ian Champeon tossed a complete-game seven-hitter and Ryan Olmsted belted a two-run triple in the fifth inning as Foxcroft Academy built a 7-0 lead and held on.

Wade Witham had three singles, Champeon had two singles and an RBI and Josh Conroy had a run-scoring double for the winners.

Sam Stewart tripled and singled for MDI. Josh DeLaittre doubled and singled, Steve Zirnkilton had a two-run double and Danny Dunn doubled and had a sacrifice fly.

At Farmington, Mt. Blue erupted for five runs in the third inning for the win.

Scott Hilton hit two singles and drove in a run while Brad Dority tripled and singled for Mt. Blue.

Shawn Smith paced Hampden with a two-run home run and a single while Nolan Turner had three singles.

At Bucksport, the Golden Bucks had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Dana Leland escaped with just one run on a passed ball and earned the save.

After the run scored with one out, Leland issued an intentional walk to reload the bases and then retired the last two batters on a popup and groundout.

Leland also led the offense with a double, a single, and three RBIs for the Coyotes. Tyler Cates had a double, single and three runs scored.

Eddie Robbins had two singles and an RBI for the Bucks.

At Ellsworth, Jen Richter hit a home run and singled to lead the Eagles. Pitcher Ashley Smith had two singles and drove in the winning run scored by Richter in the eighth.

Whitney Sinclair had two singles, Abby Perkins hit a double and Sheila Toomey added a triple for John Bapst.

At Bucksport, Hannah Morin pitched a complete game, allowing one run on five hits to propel Old Town.

Amy Singer tallied two doubles, a single and three RBIs for Old Town. Micayla Hussey had a triple, single and an RBI and Jenna Winegardner had three singles.

Meagan Harriman and Rochelle Pelletier each hit two singles for Bucksport while Catie Denning had a triple.

At Farmington, Lacey Littlefield and Michelle Wells combined on a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Hampden.

Ashley Gott tallied two singles and an RBI for Hampden while Michelle Wells and Brittany Luetjen each hit two singles. Jill Carlisle added an RBI single for the Broncos.

Kaitlyn Bartlett and Chelsea Kendall each had a single for Mt. Blue.

Sam Snyder had a double and two RBIs for Foxcroft Academy while Courtney Withee hit two singles.

At Ashland, Whitney Flint earned the victory with a four-hitter and aided her own cause with a three-run home run and two-run single.

Flint struck out 13 and walked four. Crystal Cook chipped in with a double, single and RBI and Rylee Graham had a double and three RBIs.

Kristel Deschaines hit a solo homer for Van Buren and Kristen Vaillancourt doubled and drove in two runs.
