STANDISH – St. Joseph’s College in Standish has chosen an in-house administrator as its next president.

Joseph Lee of Windham was appointed as a vice president at the Roman Catholic liberal arts college in 2005. He has served for the past year as interim president after the resignation of David House, who held the top job for 12 years.

Lee, a 64-year-old Bath native, was picked after a nationwide search that yielded 54 applicants.

Before coming to St. Joseph’s, Lee served as dean of admissions and vice president for student services at Merrimack College and as head of student life at Manhattan College. He also was president of Thomas More College in Kentucky from 2001 to 2004.

Lee said he plans to reinvigorate the college’s strategic plan and manage the blueprint for growth over the next five years .
