SPENCER McELWAIN
McElwain, a member of the Caribou track and field team, won two events and placed second in another to lead the Vikings to victory in an eight-team meet over the weekend. McElwain won the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 58.8 seconds, won the 3,200 in 10:18.2 and placed second in the 800 (2:10.1). McElwain also plays first doubles for Caribou’s boys tennis squad.
Small School (Classes C-D)
CHRIS FOGLER
Fogler, a member of the John Bapst of Bangor track and field team, won three events during a six-team meet in which the Crusaders finished second to Class A Bangor. Fogler won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.28 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 40.95 seconds, and he cleared 5 feet, 10 inches to win the high jump.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
MELANIE JUDKINS
Brewer pitcher Judkins totaled 20 strikeouts in two games as the Witches earned two pivotal victories to rise to the top of the Class A Heal Point standings. She gave up two runs and four hits while striking out 10 in a 3-2 win over Cony of Augusta and spun a two-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Nokomis of Newport.
Small School (Classes C-D)
TASHIA DALEY
The Sumner of East Sullivan pitched fired a pair of no-hitters during the past week. Daley struck out 11 and walked none while contributing two hits, an RBI and a run scored in a victory over Narraguagus of Harrington while fanning seven and walking two in a triumph over George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.
