PITTSFIELD – Firefighters fought two grass fires Wednesday, both sparked by passing trains. The first fire was reported at 1 p.m. near the railroad crossing on Webb Road. Only a very small area was burned, Assistant Chief Dean Billings said Wednesday night.

PITTSFIELD – Firefighters fought two grass fires Wednesday, both sparked by passing trains.

The first fire was reported at 1 p.m. near the railroad crossing on Webb Road. Only a very small area was burned, Assistant Chief Dean Billings said Wednesday night.

The second fire burned about an acre of land off Barney Cianchette Road about 3:30 p.m.

Billings said no one was injured in either fire and no buildings were in danger.
