MA Lynx top John Bapst

LINCOLN – Deni Nicastro and Taylor Trask combined to surrender just one run on three hits while striking out 12 batters as Mattanawcook Academy avenged an opening-day loss to John Bapst of Bangor with a 3-1 softball victory Thursday.

Kristy Burleigh had two singles and an RBI for the Lynx.

Sheila Toomey hit an RBI triple for Bapst.

At Bar Harbor, Amy Cossar doubled and tripled to knock in three runs to lead Old Town past MDI.

Hillary Campbell singled twice for the Coyotes.

Ariel York had two singles and two RBIs and Megan Simason three singles for the Trojans.

Bucksport 8, Hermon 4

At Hermon, Bucksport tallied three runs each in the first and sixth innings en route to victory over Hermon.

Emily Lenor hit two singles while Megan Panaro had an RBI double for Bucksport.

Ally Wharton had a triple, a double, a single and two RBIs for Hermon. Ashley Thayer added a triple and a single with an RBI for the Hawks.

At Harrington, the visiting Blue Devils pushed across 10 runs in the top of the seventh en route to their seventh victory.

Honor Wilkinson had two singles and a double and Toni Cote three singles for Calais. Marcey Gillespie and Courtney Hill each had two singles.

For the Knights, Sam Baker singled twice and doubled.

Bucksport 5, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Steve Klenowski’s two-run single keyed a three-run sixth inning that supplied the Bucks with some important breathing room.

Ross Bowden hurled a complete-game seven-hitter, striking out six and walking three.

Klenowski had two singles and three RBIs and Cam Wadleigh singled twice.

Brian Saucier and Travis Kane had two singles apiece for Hermon.

At Bar Harbor, Danny Dunn drove in three runs with a pair of doubles and Sam Stewart tossed 3 2/3 innings of one-hit relief, allowing one unearned run, as Mount Desert Island topped Old Town.

Calvin Tweedie and Josh Delaittre had three singles apiece for the winners and Stewart had a pair of singles. Tweedie had an RBI.

Jason Smith had Old Town’s only hits, a pair of singles.

At Harrington, Josh Gillespie walloped a pair of homers, a three-run shot and a solo blast, to lead Calais past Narraguagus.

Jordan Leeman had a double and two singles for the winners and Dylan Ramsdell had three singles and two RBIs.

Josh Beal, Colby Tucker and Kam Jordan had three singles each for Calais with Beal and Tucker each picking up an RBI.

Presque Isle 5, Houlton 3

At Presque Isle, Nick Gallant hit a pair of singles and drove in a run as Presque Isle topped Houlton Wednesday evening.

Adam Kingsbury posted an RBI double for the Wildcats.

Josh Harvey had two singles and an RBI while Mike Flewelling and Parker Brown doubled for Houlton.

At Madawaska, Nathan Beaulieu and Michael Cannan belted two-run doubles in a five-run sixth inning that broke the game open.

Cannan and Ethan Welch each had a double and a single and two RBIs for Madawaska and Jeff Cyr singled twice.

Blake McCarthy had a triple and two singles for Central Aroostook of Mars Hill. Logan McCarthy and Logan McLaughlin had two singles each and Manny Martinez had an RBI double.
