Grace and Keanna seek loving home

Grace and Keanna are beautiful, funny, talented and resilient girls. They have been together most of their lives and have relied on one another daily. The girls enjoy being involved in activities that most girls their age participate in.

Grace, born in 1998, enjoys any kind of activity where she can be involved with other people. She is always at the center of activities. She loves to color, play outside, ride bikes, snowshoe and sled. She is open to new adventures and enjoys a physical challenge. Grace can be helpful and supportive of her caregivers. She yearns for connectedness and has learned effective ways to engage others to meet that strong need.

Keanna was born in 2000. She is very shy, but can be engaging when she becomes more comfortable. She likes to make funny faces and can passively engage others in enjoyable activity. She is charming. She loves to read, color and draw. When she gets more comfortable she has a dramatic flair for the arts and creativity. She also likes to play outside, snowshoe and ride her bike.

Grace and Keanna both attend public school and require casual assistance with schoolwork, but more assistance in staying on task. They are energetic and playful, so sitting around can be a struggle at times.

Grace and Keanna have made incredible strides over the last two years in a structured, humorous and active foster home. The girls will continue to require unconditional, humorous and committed caretakers who are laid-back but clearly in control of the environment, ensuring their safety at all times. They strongly value their biological family connections in York County. They need parents who can focus solely on them without the struggle of integrating themselves into a family with children their age or younger.

Grace and Keanna are two of the 147 children in the care of the state Department of Health and Human Services who are seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
