PRESQUE ISLE – Hillary Laferriere stroked an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning of the second game to lift John Bapst of Bangor to a 4-3 high school softball victory over Presque Isle for a split of their Saturday doubleheader.

Presque Isle won the opener 14-4.

In the first game, Emily Curry stroked a two-run double for Presque Isle while Kayla Legassie had two singles, a double and an RBI.

Laferriere had three singles for Bapst.

In the second game, Sheila Toomey knocked a two-run homer for the Crusaders while Casey Harvey singled twice.

Jenna Stephenson singled three times and doubled for Presque Isle.

At Bar Harbor, Hillary Haney hit a home run, a triple and a double with five RBIs to power Central of Corinth by Mount Desert Island.

Haney pitched five innings allowing one run on four hits for Central. Kaitlyn Smith hit two doubles for the Red Devils.

MacKenzie Curtis posted a double for the Trojans.

At Dexter, Kelsey Boss hit a solo homer and singled three times to lead Foxcroft Academy past Dexter.

Courtney Withee had two singles and Megan Crocker a triple for the Ponies.

Allyssa Crane knocked an RBI single and Olivia Gardner two singles for Dexter.

DI-Stonington sweeps Katahdin

At Stacyville, Anika Powers drove in the game-winning run in the top of the 10th inning to lift Deer Isle-Stonington past Katahdin 12-11 in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Mariners took a 15-14 extra-inning win in the second game.

In the first game, Powers led Deer Isle-Stonington with two singles and a double. Abby Grindle added three singles.

Melissa Duffy, Lacey Pelletier and Felisha Robinson each hit two singles for Katahdin.

In the second game, Britnie Jones hit two singles and scored the game-winning run on a Katahdin throwing error in the eighth.

Heidi Brewer hit two singles and a double. Powers doubled and singled while Goldie Garcia had two singles for the Mariners.

Jasmine Pelletier and Felisha Robinson each had two singles for the Cougars.

Caribou, Hermon split

At Caribou, the Vikings and Hawks split a Class B twinbill. Hermon took the opener 5-4 and Caribou won the nightcap 7-6.

In the first game, Ally Wharton, Monica Gallant and Jamie Beers each singled twice for the Hawks. Debbie Colpitts earned the pitching win.

Serena Grier had four singles and Ashley Doucette two for Caribou.

In the second game, Ali Richards doubled and singled twice as Caribou salvaged a split.

Kristen Espling doubled for the Vikings.

Wharton tripled while Colpitts doubled and singled for Hermon.

WA Raiders sweep Searsport

At Hampden, Kayla Wood pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts as Washington Academy of East Machias shut out Searsport 9-0 in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader.

The Raiders completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in the second game.

In the first game, Carilla Fritz tripled and singled with two RBIs while Wood had a double, a single and two RBIs. Joslyn Corey added a triple and a single for the Raiders.

Marissa Higgins, Olivia Quigley and Megan Higgins each hit a single for Searsport.

In the second game, Fritz hit three singles for Washington Academy. Corey hit a triple while Wood had a single with two RBIs.

Emma Clark singled for the Vikings.

John Bapst, Presque Isle split

At Presque Isle, John Bapst of Bangor and Presque Isle split a Class B doubleheader, with the Crusaders winning the first game 16-1 and the Wildcats taking the second game 7-2.

In the opener, Nick Smith singled twice and hit a three-run homer to power Bapst. Kyle Gallant had three singles and Chase Huckestein rapped a double and a single.

Bennett Cassidy had two singles and a solo homer for Presque Isle.

In the nightcap, Cassidy singled twice and tripled with an RBI to help PI earn the split.

Adam Kingsbury had two singles and an RBI for the Wildcats.

Corey Hall and Adam Healey had two singles apiece and Nick Smith hit a double and a single for Bapst.

At Caribou, Seth Sager knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Caribou past Hermon 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Hermon topped Caribou in the second game 6-4.

In the first game, Philip St. Peter had a double and a single while Jarryd Rossignol hit two singles for Caribou.

Eric Ferland doubled and singled for Hermon.

In the second game, Ryan Reynolds hit a two-run single to highlight a four-run seventh inning for the Hawks. Brad McCluskey added a pair of singles for Hermon.

Rossignol hit three singles for Caribou while Justin McLaughlin had two.
