N.H. man gets 41 months in prison in child porn case

BANGOR – A New Hampshire man was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court to more than three years in prison for possession of child pornography.

U.S. District Judge John Woodcock sentenced Blake D. Hampe, 30, of Manchester, N.H., to 41 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release after he completes his prison term.

He faced up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Hampe pleaded guilty in October to having child pornography on his laptop. He has been jailed since, awaiting sentencing.

He was arrested in September 2006 in Bar Harbor shortly after he arrived from Canada on the Cat ferry.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers searched Hampe’s car after he allegedly said he did not have to answer their questions because he was a U.S. citizen. Agents found a small amount of marijuana and Hampe’s laptop along with stuffed animals, Legos, condoms and a Fantastic Four children’s sleeping bag in the car, according to court documents.

On Hampe’s computer, agents found a video that showed two prepubescent boys engaged in sexual activity.
