Official of Belfast Chamber to head regional business group

BELFAST – The sales and marketing director of the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce will serve as president of the Midcoast Maine Chamber, a regional business organization.

Melanie Sheafe succeeds Cerina Leeman of the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce.

Sheafe joins Bob Hastings of the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, Heather Collins of the Southern Midcoast Chamber of Commerce, Jaimie Logan of the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce and Ralph Harvey of Searsport Economic Development as the board of MCCC.

It is a regional marketing organization that includes eight Chambers of Commerce from Bath to Searsport. It promotes tourism and economic development through cooperative programs, services and activities.

Sheafe, a lifelong resident of Waldo County who now lives in Appleton with her family, began at the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce in May 2006 as the associate director. She assumed her current role as director of sales and marketing in January.
