Owls Head drug raid results in two arrests

OWLS HEAD – A 25-year-old local man and a 21-year-old woman from Cushing have been arrested and charged with trafficking in illegal drugs.

Justin Olsen was arrested May 15 after a search warrant was executed at his North Shore Drive residence by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Knox County Sheriff’s Department, State Police and Rockland Police, said James Pease, special agent supervisor of the MDEA’s Mid-Coast Regional Task Force Office for Waldo, Knox, Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties.

Agents found about 2 ounces of marijuana, 20 marijuana plants, a hallucinogenic mushroom garden, 4 ounces of hashish, 20 OxyContin 80-mg pills, drug ledgers and scales at Olsen’s residence.

Most of the items were found stored together in one backpack, Pease said Monday. Agents also seized about $4,600 that was found on Olsen.

Olsen recently had moved to Owls Head from Warren. During the MDEA investigation, agents had suspected Olsen was selling a large amount of OxyContin and hashish in Knox County, said Pease.

Olsen was charged with trafficking OxyContin Class B, trafficking marijuana Class D, cultivation of marijuana Class D, and possession of hashish Class D. He was taken to the Knox County Jail and released on $1,500 bail.

A Class B crime carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. A Class D crime carries a penalty of not more than six months in prison.

Olsen has a prior conviction for furnishing marijuana.

Agents also summoned Ashley Robinson, 21, of River Road in Cushing during the search when she was found in possession of about 11/2 ounces of marijuana, scales, packaging material and Xanax.

She was charged with trafficking marijuana Class D, and possession of Xanax Class D.
