I have read too much about the kindest, most generous man that Bangor has ever known. Not in a positive way, as far as I can see. He might have made a statement that hurt a few people; however, the majority of Stephen King’s generosity has benefited the majority of Bangor folks in many positive ways.
The Bangor Public Library had a large sign in the children’s room, under the fish tank as the children came in. It read: “Readers Are Leaders.” King was one of our regular attendees at the library and he asked us often to show him where his book would be shelved after he wrote it. Well, not only is his book on a shelf, but his books take up many shelves and I am proud to say he developed this great talent at the Bangor Public Library.
Yes, Stephen, “Readers Are Leaders.” Keep up the good work, you are loved by readers as well as nonreaders because you have a big heart.
