BANGOR – Memorial Day Parade, 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, begins on Exchange Street, proceeds up Main Street to Davenport Park at corner of Main and Cedar streets. Parade chairman, Col. Jackson Kurtzman.

BANGOR – Distribution of reflective “One in a Thousand” stickers to those who have WWII, Korean War or Vietnam War walking stick, 9-11:25 a.m. Monday, May 26, TD Banknorth, Exchange Street.

BANGOR – Memorial Day Commemoration, Monday, May 26, Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Road. Lunch courtesy of Hampden Academy Band parents, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. At 1 p.m. there will be wreath laying at WWII Memorial, Purple Heart Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, and winners of essay contest, “What Freedom Means to Me after Interviewing a Veteran” announced. Special guest is Warrant Officer Tom Stryker, Huey helicopter pilot. USO-type show by Hampden Academy Jazz Band. Walking sticks available after show to Maine veterans who don’t have one. Afterward, free admission to museum for all.

BELFAST – Frank D. Hazeltine American Legion Post and Randall-Collins VFW Post annual Memorial Day Parade at 10 a.m. Monday, May 26. Post members meet at the Legion Hall on Church Street at 8 a.m. for a ceremony honoring fallen members and then gather at the VFW Hall on Field Street for a similar ceremony. Marchers gather at Reny’s Parking Lot on Belmont Avenue and the parade begins at 10 a.m. The marchers will stop at Grove Cemetery for a ceremony at the Veterans Monument and continue down Main Street to the Public Landing where a wreath will be tossed on the waves in memory of Waldo County’s veterans.

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Memorial Wreath Laying Service for Civil War nurse Sarah E. Palmer and Gen. Wainwright Cushing, 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, Dover Cemetery. Members of the Sons and Daughters of Union Veterans in costume. Information or directions, the Batticks at 564-3576.

HOLDEN – Unveiling of Holden Veterans Memorial, project of the Kids of Liberty, 4 p.m. Memorial Day, near the gazebo by Holden Elementary School. Keynote speaker Lt. Col. Eric Johns. Music by Holden and Eddington elementary choruses, Holbrook Middle School Band. Barbecue by Holden Fire Auxiliary.

HOWLAND – Lee Graham Post 97 will conduct services Monday, May 26, with the participation of Leveille-Shorey VFW Post 9429, K of C Council 5524 of Lincoln-Howland, and Company B of the 20th Maine Civil War Re-enactment Group at the following cemeteries: Seboeis 8 a.m.; West Enfield 8:30 a.m.; Passadumkeag 8:50 a.m.; Gould’s Ridge 9:10 a.m.; Lowell 9:40 a.m.; Enfield 10:05 a.m.; Dodlin Road 10:25 a.m.; Edinburg 10:45 a.m.; Howland 11 a.m. All units and dignitaries participating in the parade meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Howland Town Park with parade to start at 11:45 a.m. Post 97 Auxiliary will serve a breakfast from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. for all participating in the honors to the cemeteries. Post 97 Auxiliary will be selling hotdogs and refreshments at the American Legion Mini Park beginning at 10 a.m.

ORONO – Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m. May 26, forms at 9 a.m. at Orono High School. Route: Westwood Drive, left onto Main Street, wreath ceremony with Legion Post 84 at center of bridge, down Park Street to American Legion Hall. Route 2 blocked off, from Westwood Drive to intersection of College Avenue and Park Street to just past Legion Hall. At end of parade, Crossroads Ministries collecting nonperishable food items.

WINTERPORT – American Legion Argonne Post 138 will hold a Memorial Day Parade at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, beginning at Smith School. The parade will proceed up Main Street, on Lebanon Road and end at Oak Hill Cemetery, where there will be a brief ceremony. All are welcome. For information, contact Bill Smith, 223-9950.
