Searsmont woman faces forgery charge

BELFAST – A Searsmont woman has been summoned on theft charges after she allegedly forged $4,050 in checks over the past two months.

Jessica J. Walker, 26, of Searsmont was charged with forgery and theft after an investigation by the Belfast Police Department. Detective Michael McFadden said the checks used by Walker were believed to have been stolen from a Waldo County residence.

“We’re still looking into where the checks came from,” McFadden said Monday. “Ms. Walker has been very cooperative at this point.”
