BUCKSPORT – Ashley Smith belted a solo home run with one out in the eighth inning Tuesday to lift Ellsworth to a 7-6 high school softball victory over Bucksport as the Eagles avenged an earlier loss to the Golden Bucks.
Smith, who also hit an RBI single, spread out six hits in the circle and struck out eight. Tasha Manning hit an RBI double and Lauren Poor tripled for Ellsworth.
Losing pitcher Keely Sullivan sparked the Golden Bucks with a solo homer and a run-scoring double. She also struck out 10 in going the distance.
