BANGOR – Memorial Day parade, 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, begins on Exchange Street, proceeds up Main Street to Davenport Park at corner of Main and Cedar streets. Parade chairman: Col. Jackson Kurtzman.

BANGOR – Memorial Day, distribution of reflective “One in a Thousand” stickers to those who have World War II, Korean War or Vietnam War walking sticks, 9-11:25 a.m. Monday, May 26, TD Banknorth, Exchange Street.

BANGOR – Memorial Day Commemoration, Monday, May 26, Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Road. Lunch by Hampden Academy Band parents, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Program at 1 p.m.: wreath laying at World War II Memorial, Purple Heart Memorial, Vietnam Memorial; winners of essay contest, “What Freedom Means to Me after Interviewing a Veteran.” Special guest, Warrant Officer Tom Stryker, Huey Helicopter pilot. USO-type show by Hampden Academy Jazz Band. Walking sticks available after show to Maine veterans who don’t have one. Afterward, free admission to museum for all.

HOLDEN – Unveiling of Holden Veterans Memorial, project of the Kids of Liberty, 4 p.m. Monday, May 26, near the gazebo by Holden Elementary School. Keynote speaker Lt. Col. Eric Johns. Music by Holden and Eddington elementary choruses, Holbrook Middle School Band. Barbecue by Holden Fire Auxiliary.

ORONO – Memorial Day parade, 10 a.m. May 26, forms at 9 a.m. at Orono High School. Route: Westwood Drive, left onto Main Street, wreath ceremony with Legion Post 84 at center of bridge, down Park Street to American Legion Hall. Route 2 blocked off, from Westwood Drive to intersection of College Avenue, and Park Street to just past Legion Hall. At end of parade, Crossroads Ministries collecting non-perishable food items.

WINTERPORT – American Legion Argonne Post 138 will hold a Memorial Day parade at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, beginning at Smith School. The parade will proceed up Main Street, on Lebanon Road and end at Oak Hill Cemetery, where there will be a brief ceremony. All are welcome. For information, contact Bill Smith, 223-9950.
