Beavers outslug CAHS Panthers

WASHBURN – Rachel Palmer stole home in the bottom of the seventh inning to supply Washburn with the game-winning run as they outlasted Central Aroostook of Mars Hill 29-28 in high school softball action Wednesday.

Palmer singled three times and doubled to knock in three runs; Kelsee McLaughlin had four singles and four RBIs and Dakota Koch three singles and four RBIs for the Beavers.

Robyn Graham knocked a three-run homer and Ashley Estabrook a solo homer and a triple for three RBIs to lead the Panthers. Latisha Neece drove in three runs on four singles.

At Presque Isle, Deni Nicastro and Taylor Trask combined on a four-hit shutout as the Lynx beat the Wildcats.

Nicastro worked the first 5 1/3 innings, striking out 10, and Trask fanned two while getting the last five outs. Bree Hanscom hit a triple and an RBI single for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln. Kristy Burleigh added a run-scoring double.

Jenna Stevenson, Krista Coffin, Allisen Donovan and Jodie Buckley had one single apiece for Presque Isle.

At Fort Fairfield, Melanie Allen laced a two-run homer and doubled to power undefeated Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Victoria St. Pierre drove in a run on a pair of singles for the Eagles.

Shannon Towle led the Tigers with a triple and a single.

At St. Agatha, Taylor Boucher hit two singles, a double and drove in five runs to propel Fort Kent by Wisdom.

Taylor Boucher singled twice, doubled and tripled for the Warriors.

Crystal McDonald drove in four runs on a double and a single for Wisdom. Andrea Chasse had an RBI double while Elise Berce contributed a triple for the Pioneers.

At Madawaska, Kristie Morneault hit a home run and a double while Crystal Arnoldy had a home run and a single as Madawaska rolled past Van Buren.

Jormarie Merced doubled and singled with two RBIs while Lindsey Lavoie hit three singles for the Owls.

Angel Richard and Lindsey Lajoie each hit a triple for Van Buren.

At Lee, Brooke Harris fired a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking nobody as the Pandas cruised to their sixth victory.

Harris aided her own cause with two doubles and six RBIs; Karin Bird had two singles and two RBIs and Aarika Ritchie a pair of doubles and a single for Lee Academy.

Jasmine Pelletier singled and tripled for Katahdin of Stacyville.

At Lee, Andy Kay pitched a complete game giving up four hits with 17 strikeouts and no walks as Katahdin of Stacyville edged Lee Academy.

Mark McGraw scored the winning run in the top of the sixth inning for Katahdin. Josh Guiggey and Kaleb Gallagher each hit a single for the Cougars.

Ryan beers hit an RBI double for Lee Academy.

At Madawaska, Tim McDermott hit a three-run home run and two singles as Madawaska out-batted Van Buren for the win.

Nathan Beaulieu hit a double and two singles with five RBIs for Madawaska. Chad Bechard hit a two-run home run and a single while Jeff Cyr had two singles and an RBI double for the Owls.

Alex Martin hit two singles and a triple while Jerry Clavette had an RBI single for Van Buren.

Ethan Doody knocked a three-run homer and Travis Conley two doubles and a single to drive in two runs for the Beavers.

At Dyer Brook, Darin Flewelling belted a two-run homer to go with a pair of doubles as Southern Aroostook thumped East Grand of Danforth.

At Presque Isle, Jarryd Rossignol hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning as Caribou cruised past Presque Isle.

Eric Brown hit two singles and a double for Caribou. Pat Thibodeau hit two doubles while Mike Doucette had a double and a single for the Vikings.

Adam Kingsbury hit three singles for Presque Isle. Ethan Braley posted two doubles while Steven Ford had two singles for the Wildcats.

Brennan Shaw laced a two-run triple while Eric Morris doubled and singled for the Presque Isle Wildcats.
