WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration on Aging has approved a $30,290 grant for the state of Maine to assist in addressing the needs of senior citizens affected by the recent flooding, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said in a press release.

In announcing the approval, Collins, a native of Aroostook County, said, “I am grateful that the Department of Health and Human Services worked so quickly to help recognize the needs of seniors in Aroostook County who were affected by the recent flooding. Many of the individuals who will benefit from these dollars are our community’s most vulnerable citizens. These funds will help assist seniors replenish food or other items lost as a result of the storms, and they will help with caregivers’ assistance.”
