In reference to Sharon Mack’s article, “Farmers meeting seeks dairy solutions” (BDN, May 15), perhaps Maine farmers are missing out on an old but often forgotten technique of raising money to survive: There is no fixed pricing policy on cow manure. Exporting it to Washington, D.C., has value not only to the politicians for slinking it, but monetary value to Maine farmers, past and present. Right now it’s in high demand, so milk it for all it’s worth.
