BANGOR – The Dexter Tigers took advantage of three miscues to score the winning run in the eighth inning, pulling out a 5-4 high school softball victory over Bangor Christian at the BC field Wednesday.

Sarah Atwater singled twice, including a two-run hit during a four-run sixth inning, to pace Dexter. Becky Johnson singled twice to back Michelle Chapman, who scattered seven hits and struck out seven.

Kelly Robinson led Bangor Christian with three singles and an RBI. Bekah Smith doubled and singled. Pitcher Jillian French allowed five hits and struck out 12.

Mattanawcook 7, Presque Isle 0

At Presque Isle, Deni Nicastro and Taylor Trask combined on a four-hit shutout as the Lynx beat the Wildcats.

Nicastro worked the first 5 1/3 innings, striking out 10, and Trask fanned two while getting the last five outs. Bree Hanscom hit a triple and an RBI single for Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln. Kristy Burleigh added a run-scoring double.

Jenna Stevenson, Krista Coffin, Allisen Donovan and Jodie Buckley had one single apiece for Presque Isle.

At Lee, Brooke Harris fired a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking nobody as the Pandas cruised to their sixth victory.

Harris aided her own cause with two doubles and six RBIs; Karin Bird had two singles and two RBIs and Aarika Ritchie a pair of doubles and a single for Lee Academy.

Jasmine Pelletier singled and tripled for Katahdin of Stacyville.

Emily Gould tripled in a run while Brittany Kelly plated another with a double for Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.

Sara Pavento tossed a complete game for Orono with 11 strikeouts. Erin White, Chloe Paul and Sonya Forst each hit a single for the Red Riots.

Kristine Tracy hit four singles while Mikaela Rosebush hit two doubles and a single for the Minutemen.

Jillian Martell and Megan Soden each hit a single for Piscataquis.

At East Millinocket, Casey McCloskey fired a three-hitter, striking out 17 and walking five, and Lyndsay Drost’s RBI double and Kirstie Dawson’s RBI single keyed a six-run fifth inning that broke a 1-1 tie.

Drost had two singles to go with her double and Audrey LaChance also had a double and two singles. McCloskey helped her own cause with a double and a single along with an RBI.

Ashley Grant’s double and Ashley Deloge’s two singles paced Schenck.

At Pittsfield, Cody Poland and Ben McLain combined for nine hits and eight runs batted in as Lincoln Academy of Newcastle beat Maine Central Institute.

Poland had two doubles and three singles and drove in three runs and McLain had a pair of doubles, two singles and five RBIs.

Dan Wyand had three singles and two RBIs and Peter Brooks drove in two runs with a pair of singles.

Eric Molgner scattered six hits over five innings with four strikeouts and two walks.

Trevor Rowe and Chris Cook had two singles apiece for MCI.

Mark McGraw scored the winning run in the top of the sixth inning for Katahdin. Josh Guiggey and Kaleb Gallagher each hit a single for the Cougars.

Ryan beers hit an RBI double for Lee Academy.

Trevor Violette and Dan Faloon each had two singles and an RBI for Schenck.

Brennan Shaw laced a two-run triple while Eric Morris doubled and singled for the Presque Isle Wildcats.
