I am a native son of China, studying at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield. I feel sad because some terrible things recently have happened in China. The first was the train crash in Shandong, China. Seventy-two people died and 416 were injured.
The second tragedy was the earthquake in Sichuan, China on May 12. Reports say that perhaps as many as 50,000 people died and more than 200,000 people were injured. There are still lots of people who can’t be found. Many roads were seriously damaged. Most of the communication equipment was broken. Planes are the only travel tools that can save those people.
More than 1,000 children died when their schools collapsed in the earthquake. Survivors don’t have food and water, and they are facing a terrible problem.
As a member of the human family, I plead for people to help them. They don’t have places to live and food to eat. The children are waiting for help. Please donate money for the survivors to rebuild their families. By giving your love to them, they can accept it with the highest respect. One possible way to donate money is through the American Red Cross at www.redcross.org.
