Sears fuels win for Dragons Woodland improves to 10-2

WOODLAND – Ben Sears went 5-for-5 with four singles, a double and three runs scored to lead the Woodland Dragons to a 14-4 high school baseball victory over the Narraguagus Knights Thursday.

Ed Flaherty added three doubles and three RBIs, while Jason McLellan and Kyle Pike each had three singles and two RBIs for Woodland. Aaron St. Pierre chipped in with a two-run single.

Corey Smith and Kameron Jordan each had an RBI single for Narraguagus of Harrington.

At Millinocket, Justin Pelkey pitched a six-inning no-hitter, striking out 13 and walking two as Stearns cruised past Schenck of East Millinocket.

The Schenck Wolverines’ lone run scored on a wild pitch.

Pelkey aided his cause with a pair of singles, a double and two RBIs for the Minutemen. Aaron Cyr, Ryan Bolduc and Kurt Hamilton each had an RBI single.

Greenville 4, Forest Hills 2

At Jackman, Kyle Whitman walked, stole two bases and scored the winning run in the sixth on a Keith Aucoin single to lead the Greenville Lakers past Forest Hills.

Whitman singled and drove in a run for the Lakers. Joe Gilbert and T.J. St. Louis singled.

Jeff Mulhall hit a double and recorded 13 strikeouts for Forest Hills. Jacob Morissette also doubled.

Woodland 9, Narraguagus 5

At Woodland, Ashley Laking had three singles and winning pitcher Shelby Bassett doubled and singled to lead the Dragons past Narraguagus of Harrington.

Julia Nicholas and Courtney Cochran each added two singles for Woodland, with Nicholas also contributing an RBI.

Nicki Endre doubled twice for Narraguagus.

At Millinocket, Angela Levesque allowed one earned run on one hit and two walks while striking out seven to lead Stearns of Millinocket past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Paige Curtis hit three singles and drove in four runs to pace Stearns. Jenessa Willey hit a two-run double in the fifth inning and Angela Levesque doubled and singled with an RBI.

Tricia Hobbs hit an RBI single in the first inning for Schenck.

At Corinth, Jocelyn Portman slammed a three-run homer and Katelynn Stymest laced a two-run double to lead Central to a point-worthy Class B victory.

Sami Morin doubled and singled to knock in a run and Hilary Haney chipped in two singles and an RBI for the Red Devils.

Sarah Wilcox hit a solo homer and RBI single while Hannah Morin tripled for Old Town.

Fort Fairfield 11, Van Buren 9

At Van Buren, Courtney Churchill tripled, doubled and scored three runs as the Tigers outlasted the Crusaders.

Winning pitcher Kelsie York added two singles and two RBIs for Fort Fairfield.

Kristen Vaillancourt led Van Buren with two singles, three runs scored and an RBI.
