Fire the incumbents

Record oil company profits are noted while most Americans struggle to find a way to make ends meet. Oil company executives sit before Congress explaining that $40 billion in profits is not as much as it appears. I guess $40 billion doesn’t buy what it used to.

Leaders at both federal and state levels do nothing more than pander to companies and special interest groups that line their campaign war chests.

It appears our elected officials have forgotten that they work for all of us and not just the big contributors. It is time for all of us to send a reminder that we the people hold the power, our votes. It is time for all of us to exert that power and let our elected officials know they are not getting the job done.

Job approval ratings for the president are at 29 percent and for Congress at 18 percent have never been lower. With this type of performance evaluation it is up to us to fire those responsible. Come Election Day, I propose that we do not hire (vote for) anyone currently in office. Our democracy affords the citizens of this great country the means to overthrow the government every Election Day, and that is precisely what we need to do.

It is time to take this country back from the few and make it start working again for all of us.
