BERWICK – Maine and New Hampshire police are looking for a green van believed responsible for a fatal hit-and-run crash in Berwick.
Maine State Police said 43-year-old Deborah Archer of Berwick was killed shortly before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday while walking her dogs along Route 9. The victim was the sister of Berwick Police Chief Timothy Towne.
Witnesses told police the woman was hit and dragged a short distance by a commercial-style van last seen on Route 9 in Somersworth, N.H. Police in Maine and New Hampshire are on the lookout for the van, which has no side windows and is likely to have front-end damage and a broken headlight.
