Gallant sparks John Bapst win Dexter, Ellsworth post victories

BANGOR – Kyle Gallant pitched a six-hitter, allowing one earned run with 10 strikeouts, to lead the John Bapst Crusaders to an 8-4 high school baseball victory over the Bucksport Golden Bucks Tuesday.

Nick Smith hit a double and a single for John Bapst. Ryan Carr had two singles with an RBI and Bill Weatherbee posted a two-run single.

Steve Klenowski hit two singles with an RBI and Tyler French had a two-run double for Bucksport.

At East Millinocket, Rick Stewart tallied a home run, a double and two singles with three RBIs to lead Dexter by Schenck.

Ethan Woodman posted two singles for the Tigers.

Trevor Violette and Dan Faloon each hit two singles for Schenck.

Ellsworth 2, Central 1

At Corinth, Dylan Wilbur’s fielders choice in the fourth inning provided the margin of victory as Ellsworth edged Central.

Adam Kaspala pitched a six-hitter for the Eagles, allowing one run.

Jake Speed hit a home run and a single while Josh Collins had two singles for Central.

At Woodland, Andy Brown and Dustin Laney combined on a three-hitter to spark Woodland by Lee Academy.

Eddie Flaherty hit two singles with two RBIs while Jason McLellan had a double and a single with an RBI for the Dragons. Aaron St. Pierre tripled and singled while Ben Sears singled twice (one RBI).

Dean MacDonald hit a double and a single for the Pandas.

At Woodland, Brooke Harris pitched a four-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts to lead Lee Academy by Woodland.

Aarika Ritchie hit an RBI single for the Pandas.

Shelby Bassett tossed a two-hitter for Woodland, allowing no earned runs, and struck out 11. She aided her own cause with a double and a single.

Ariel Knights and Cali Anthony each doubled for the Dragons.

Skowhegan 2, Hampden 1

At Hampden, RBI singles by Emily Hodgdon and Crystal Johnson in the fourth inning gave the Indians a 2-0 lead, and Skowhegan held off the Broncos.

Eva Shannon singled in Michelle Wells for Hampden in the fourth, but Ashley Gott was thrown out at the plate on the same play. Wells and Gott each singled and they moved up on a fielder’s choice.

It was Hampden’s third straight one-run loss.

Whitney Jones and Mary Baker singled for the other two Skowhegan hits, and Rebecca McCarty earned the win with 11 strikeouts and no walks.

Lacey Littlefield struck out 15 and walked three for the Broncos.

At Corinth, Katelynn Stymiest tallied two singles, a triple and five RBIs to propel Central past Ellsworth.

Hillary Haney hit a two-run double and a single while Michelle Ferrie had two singles and an RBI for the Red Devils.

Ashley Smith posted two singles and two RBIs for the Eagles.

At East Millinocket, Michelle Chapman hit two singles and an RBI triple as Dexter cruised past Schenck.

Sam Conway and Amy Conway hit three singles each for the Tigers.

Tricia Hobbs had two singles while Ashley Grant hit a double for Schenck.
