WATERBORO – A Waterboro man faces terrorizing charges after a six-hour standoff with the York County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s officials say they were called Monday afternoon to the home of 44-year-old Michael Burns after receiving reports of a man running naked threatening to shoot neighbors and burn down their houses.

When police arrived, officials say, Burns ran into his home and threatened deputies. Six hours later, he surrendered peacefully. He was taken to the York County Jail and charged with terrorizing, creating a police standoff and indecent conduct.
