AUGUSTA – Traffic volume on the Maine Turnpike was down by nearly 3 percent from last year’s Memorial Day weekend record. Turnpike officials say 651,216 vehicles traveled on the toll road from Friday through Monday, a decrease of 19,475 vehicles or 2.9 percent from 2007.

AUGUSTA – Traffic volume on the Maine Turnpike was down by nearly 3 percent from last year’s Memorial Day weekend record.
Turnpike officials say 651,216 vehicles traveled on the toll road from Friday through Monday, a decrease of 19,475 vehicles or 2.9 percent from 2007.
Citing high gasoline prices, officials had predicted no new volume record would be set.
Volume through the York toll plaza was down 4.2 percent.
