Raiders trip up Knights Hall’s RBI single gives WA victory

EAST MACHIAS – John Hall slapped an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to supply the host Raiders with the game-winning run and a 7-6 high school baseball victory over Narraguagus of Harrington Wednesday.

Brett Lyons had tied the game with an RBI single in the seventh for the Raiders; Lyons had a two-run single and Hall a triple earlier in the game.

Gavin Andre and Ethan Dublin had two singles apiece while Blake Chase doubled and singled for the Knights.

At Jonesport, Tim Barnes, Justin Lewey and A.J. Seeley knocked in two runs apiece as Shead of Eastport beat Jonesport-Beals in the nightcap to sweep the doubleheader.

Barnes had a double and two singles, Lewey doubled and singled and Seeley had a pair of base hits. Caleb Ricker doubled for the winners.

Zack Fenton had three singles for Jonesport-Beals and Terrell Carver doubled and singled.

In the opener, Tyler Mitchell and Barnes had three singles apiece with Mitchell driving in a pair of runs. Ricker doubled and singled and had an RBI and Tom Pottle and Joel Francis added two-run singles.

Harold Lyons’ RBI triple, Harry Beal’s double and Carver’s base hit led the Royals.

At East Millinocket, Collin Ciomei’s two-run single keyed a four-run fifth inning as Deer Isle-Stonington broke open a close game.

Ciomei also doubled and finished with three RBIs as did Jon Lymburner, who doubled and singled.

Evan Rollins had two singles for the Mariners.

Dan Faloon doubled and singled twice for Schenck and had an RBI and Joe Ruitto singled twice.

At Salem, Nick Lemieux’s bases loaded double in the sixth inning snapped a 7-7 tie, all part of a five run inning to lead the Buccaneers by the Roadrunners.

Lemieux, who reached base five times, had two hits, scored twice and three RBIs for Georges Valley. Brandon Staples added three hits and two RBIs for the Buccaneers.

Josh Smith two doubles, a single and two RBIs for Mt. Abram.

At Bar Harbor, Justin Gilmartin laced a two-run homer and a two-run double while Calvin Tweedie knocked a two-run homer as Mount Desert Island rolled.

Brett Mitchell hit a solo homer and Josh Delaittre three singles for the Trojans.

Eric Fernald hit a solo homer for Hermon.

At Pittsfield, the Mustangs scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Cody Raven pitched three no-hit innings and struck out six and also stroked a double and three singles with two RBIs for Mount View of Thorndike. Ethan Jean tripled and doubled with four RBIs, while Derek Keller and Josh St. Clair posted three singles each.

Nick Miller hit a two-run single in the fifth for Maine Central Institute.

At Hampden, Patrick Stephens laced a two-run single while Shawn Smith scattered six hits in a complete-game effort as Hampden defeated Skowhegan.

The Indians came in ranked atop the Heal point standings.

Smith struck out nine while Ryan Lindemann singled twice and scored two runs for the Broncos.

Cody Vigue drove in a run with a single while Devin Sylvain doubled for Skowhegan.

At Jonesport, Hannah Carver hit two doubles, driving in 3 runs to pace Jonesport-Beals in the first game of a doubleheader.

Morgan MacLean had 2 singles and 4 RBI’s and Amanda Chandler had two singles for the Royalettes.

Shelly Melanson and Cassandra Stanhope had RBI singles to pace the Tigerettes.

In game two, BreAnna Beal hit a single and a double driving in 4 runs to lead Jonesport-Beals, Whitney Norton added a single and a double, Rose Carver had two singles and 3 RBI’s and Erin Crowley hit two singles for the winners.

Shelly Melanson hit 2 singles and a double driving in 2 runs for Shead.

At Bar Harbor, senior Ashley Kelley returned to the circle and spun a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as Hermon prevailed in five innings.

Kelley was pitching her first game of the spring after missing the first 12 with a knee injury suffered during basketball season.

Marissa Kelley, Ashley’s sister, singled twice and doubled (5 RBIs) while Ally Wharton had three singles and Jamie Beers a triple and a single for the Hawks.

Ariel York had two singles for Mount Desert Island.
