Foxcroft Academy

Dr. Raymond Webb, head of school at Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2008. Graduation will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 8.

Lindsey Hewett, daughter of Russell and Vandy Hewett of Dover-Foxcroft, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2008. She plans to attend McGill University in Montreal to study mathematics and computer science.

She is president of the senior class, was named to the National Honor Society in 2007 and received awards for excellence in chemistry, pre-calculus, Spanish III, economics and physics, and was a 2008 Rose Award recipient.

Hewett traveled to Australia in 2007 with the Lead America Discover Australia program and served the homeless in New York City in 2005. She traveled to France in spring 2008 with the International Club, and she’s active as a member of the math team and student ambassadors.

Molly Herring, daughter of Edwin and Ruby Herring of Dover-Foxcroft, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2008. She will attend Bryant University and study economics and finance.

She received awards for excellence in math and English. She has participated in math team, student council, Spanish club and choral groups including Foxcroft Academy’s honors choir and the Bangor Area Children’s Choir.

In 2007, she was inducted into the National Honor Society and serves as its president. She was a 2008 Rose Award recipient.

Old Town High School

Old Town High School has announced speakers for the Class of 2008 graduation to be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the MacKenzie Gymnasium at the school.

Allison Brown, daughter of Daniel and Mary Brown of Old Town, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2008. She plans to attend Colby College in Waterville to study government and economics.

Throughout her four years at OTHS, she has been an active member in the school and participated in the soccer and tennis teams. She has been a member of the symphonic and concert bands, student council and National Honor Society.

Ryan Brownewell of Old Town, son of Alan Brownewell and Linda Reid, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2008. He will attend the University of Maine to study computer engineering.

He has played soccer all four years of high school and played tennis his senior year. He was a member of the concert and marching bands for four years and the symphonic band for two years.

Zack Goater of Old Town, president of the Class of 2008, will speak. He is the son of John Goater, Jill Tremblay and Stacy Trosper. He plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono to study journalism. He was active in drama and a member of student council.

Matthew Thebarge, son of John and Laurie Thebarge of Old Town, was voted essay speaker for the Class of 2008. He plans to attend Husson College to study pharmacy. He was a member of the indoor and outdoor track teams and student council, and he was a counselor for science camp.
