Bomb threat leads to arrest

BREWER – A Bangor man was arrested after allegedly calling a bomb threat to a Brewer business Thursday night.

Around 7 p.m., Brewer police responded to a bomb threat at Vector Marketing on Betton Street off North Main Street, Brewer police Capt. Jason Moffitt said Friday.

“The caller said the building was going to blow up and gave a timeline for that to happen,” Moffitt said.

The Vector building and another nearby business were evacuated and a bomb detection dog was called in from Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. The evacuation lasted about an hour, and a search of the building found that there was no bomb.

After investigating, police were led to a suspect, Brian Stover, 23, of Bangor, who Moffitt said was “disgruntled” with the marketing company.

Moffitt couldn’t release further information as to why Stover allegedly called in the threat.

Stover was interviewed by Brewer police Sgt. Rich Smith and arrested on a charge of felony terrorizing, which could result in five years in jail and up to a $5,000 fine. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail where he remained Friday morning.
