On Memorial Day, John McCain revealed that he is devoid of rational judgment and common sense and unfit to be commander-in-chief.
Building on a suggestion made by Sen. Lindsey Graham, McCain endorsed and promoted the idea that the two leading contenders should, with less than five months before the presidential election, fly to Iraq for a face-to-face with Gen. David Petraeus.
Granted, on the surface it is an interesting political stunt, but any serious person would recognize the suggestion of simultaneously endangering the lives of two men, one of whom will be the next president, for a reckless stunt defies the logic associated with rational judgment.
Does America want a president who would, on a whim, endanger both him and the alternative in the chain of command? How about the fact that the whole primary process would be scrambled by the death, or severe injury, of a presidential contender?
Clearly McCain is thinking irrationally. To that we can add the fact that he is opposed to granting educational benefits to veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. He has made it clear that he fully agrees with Bush, that those who placed their lives on the line for this nation do not deserve the ability to earn a first-rate income or have medical care immediately upon returning home.
Is McCain the candidate Republicans want to represent our troops, and make life-threatening judgments? Is he the one patriotic Americans want in that role?
