SACO – The Navy has awarded another $7.8 million to General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products to build 20mm guns used on F/A-18 fighter jets.
Production of the M61A2 20mm automatic Gatling guns that can fire 7,000 rounds per minute will be performed at General Dynamics’ factory in Saco. The program will be managed out by General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products’ Burlington, Vt., facility.
The initial $10 million contract was awarded to General Dynamics in July 2005 followed by a $12.5 million contract extension in August 2006.
