HAMPDEN – The Penobscot Valley Conference Large School track and field championships officially wrapped up Tuesday afternoon with the contention of the pole vault during the PVC freshman championships at Hampden Academy.

The Bangor boys and girls sewed up their fourth consecutive team titles.

The Ram boys finished with 139 points while Hampden Academy took second with 116, Caribou third with 107, Brewer fourth with 77 and Presque Isle fifth with 48.

Mount Desert Island’s Tucker Smith won the vault with a height of 12 feet, while Bangor’s Sean Seekins and Nick Bryant finished second and third.

Corey Hodgkins, Ben Cummings and Derek Rothenheber finished fourth, fifth and sixth for MDI.

The Bangor girls went 1-2-3-5 in the pole vault and finished with a tally of 179 points to runner-up Brewer’s 102.

Mount Desert Island, which had two girls place in the event, took third with 92 points, Old Town was fourth with 73 and Caribou fifth with 68.

Jen Tsang cleared 8 feet to win the vault for Bangor, while Jennifer Smith, Katie Porter and Hannah Griffin all cleared 7-6.

Alexis Baxter and Chelsey Curran each went over 7-6 for MDI.
