BEAVER COVE – Thieves made off with computers and petty cash during a break-in at the municipal office over the weekend.

A front window was smashed to gain entry into the building between Sunday night and Monday morning, according to Greenville Police Chief Scott MacMaster.

Once inside, the thieves kicked open three locked office doors and rummaged through the rooms’ contents. A fourth office that was unlocked also was entered, he said.

A computer monitor and printer were taken from one office and a complete computer system was taken from another office. A safe was broken into and less than $100 in petty cash was taken, MacMaster said. He said the thieves also pried open two steel doors on the lower level of the building.

MacMaster said more damage was done to the building than the items taken were worth.

Anyone who may seen any activity at the town office or with any knowledge about the break-in is encouraged to contact the Greenville Police Department at 695-3835.
