Luetjen lifts Broncos to win

LEAVITT – Brittany Luetjen smacked a grand slam in the first inning to help lift the Hampden Academy Broncos to a 10-3 high school softball victory over the Leavitt Hornets Tuesday.

Jill Carlisle tallied three singles and an RBI for Hampden. Michelle Wells hit a double and scored three runs while Morgan Doyon hit an RBI single for the Broncos.

Lacey Littlefield pitched six innings with 10 strikeouts to earn the win.

Kate Dyer hit two singles and Robyn Nelson had a double for Leavitt.

At Bangor, Devan Richard allowed four hits and one walk with five strikeouts and her John Bapst Crusaders of Bangor edged Central.

Whitney Sinclair’s two-run double with the bases loaded was the big hit in a three-run fourth inning that gave the Crusaders all the runs they’d need. She had a double, single and two RBIs. Hillary Laferriere had two singles and an RBI.

Hillary Haney took the loss after allowing six hits and three walks.

At Dexter, Michelle Chapman pitched a no-hitter with six strikeouts and contributed an RBI single as Dexter cruised past Piscataquis of Guilford.

Becky Johnson laced a two-run double, Eva Wing singled and drove in three runs and Sarah Atwater hit an RBI single for the Tigers.

Brittney Glencross hit an RBI double for the Huskies.

At Readfield, Tessa Dodge drove in two runs on a home run and a triple to lead Maranacook by Medomak Valley of Waldoboro.

At Auburn, Leah Jackson tripled and singled with an RBI as Brewer secured the No. 1 ranking in Eastern Maine Class A with its 15th win of the spring.

Allie DeFillip added two singles and an RBI while Dominique DeFillip had two bunt singles and two runs scored.

Emily Grund had three singles and Becca Witten two singles for Edward Little.

At Auburn, Chase Daniels picked up the win with 5 1/3 strong innings of pitching and had two doubles with two RBIs to help lead the Brewer Witches past Edward Little of Auburn.

Eric White had three singles and four RBIs for the Witches. Prentiss Swett had a double, single and two RBIs, and Billy Bissell had three singles and an RBI.

Kyle Buissere went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, two singles and three RBIs for the Red Eddies.

Smith knocked in six runs with a grand slam and two doubles and Turner delivered four more with a double and two singles.

Cody Miller doubled and singled and the Broncos received two singles apiece from Ryan Lindemann and Ryan McCluskey.

Doug Nash had a double and two singles for Leavitt and Gard Castonguay singled twice.

Henry Milligan hit a single and scored the winning run in the eighth. Justin Belanger pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts while posting a single and an RBI double for the Hornets.

Josh Guiggey tripled and doubled for Katahdin. Ethan Qualey had a two-run double while Josh McGraw hit a triple for the Cougars.

At Harrington, Ed Flaherty’s two-run home run in the seventh was the difference in the game as the Dragons edged the Narraguagus Knights.

Kyle Pike hit a three-run homer in the first, singled twice, and drove in five runs.

Corey Smith had a double, two singles and three RBIs for the Knights. Blake Chase had a double and a single while Josh Beal singled twice.
